About this listen

It is the morning of the reaping that will kick off the 10th annual Hunger Games. In the Capitol, 18-year-old Coriolanus Snow is preparing for his one shot at glory as a mentor in the Games. The once-mighty house of Snow has fallen on hard times, its fate hanging on the slender chance that Coriolanus will be able to out charm, outwit, and outmaneuver his fellow students to mentor the winning tribute.

The odds are against him. He’s been given the humiliating assignment of mentoring the female tribute from District 12, the lowest of the low. Their fates are now completely intertwined - every choice Coriolanus makes could lead to favor or failure, triumph or ruin. Inside the arena, it will be a fight to the death. Outside the arena, Coriolanus starts to feel for his doomed tribute...and must weigh his need to follow the rules against his desire to survive no matter what it takes.

Featured article: Katniss Everdeen - a Hunger Games character guide

Sister, tribute, revolutionary, the Girl on Fire—Katniss Everdeen has been known as a lot of things, but there is truly no character quite like the heroine of the The Hunger Games series. The Hunger Games series by Suzanne Collins is set in a future dystopian world where the Capitol keeps a tight hold on Panem, the country made up of what is left of North America, and its strictly divided 12 districts. The main trilogy follows Katniss Everdeen on her journey from an average, impoverished girl in a forgotten district to the symbol of resistance. Here's everything you ever wanted to know about Katniss.

I found it hard to listen to the narrator doing female voices and speaking songs.

NARRATOR

Loved the book and story overall but agree with others about the narration/production. I listened on x1.1 speed just to make it less monotone. The speak/singing is cringeworthy. A few extra £ to have a female narrating the female parts and actually singing the songs would have made this a far superior performance.

Great story

I don’t know why so many people disliked the narrator. I had no problem with him. The spoken word versions of the songs did make me cringe, but I find that that’s true of any songs in books read allowed. I am a huge hunger games fan and this didn’t disappoint.

I did feel a bit disappointed by this book but I think it was mainly down to the reader. I did as advised and sped up the narration. You do go on a journey of routing for Snow and dispising him and it does explain about some bits and bobs in the trilogy.

A little disappointing compared to the trilogy

loved this prequel, even though it was from snows perspective it was really enjoyable and santino fontana was a fantastic as the narrator I genuinely hope that Suzanne Collins does more hunger games books and continues to use santino and tatianna as narrators! highly recommended!

A worthy prequel

I really enjoyed this book to the point I've listened to it twice. It's isn't the most ground breaking literature but it's good easy listening and I always enjoy a baddies backstory.

Enjoyable story detailing Snows decent to villainy

A great story and I now hate president snow even more, I wish I could swear in this review but I won’t so I’ll call him a so and so 🤣

Blooming brilliant. Really enjoyed piecing together the trilogy storyline, learning more about Snow as a child and the inception of the Hunger Games. Lots of action, suspense, tension, love, conflict, and very thought provoking.

Hunger Games fans will NOT be disappointed
